Maharashtra

The State of Maharashtra, located in the western region of India, was formed on May 1, 1960. It is bordered by Gujarat to the northwest, Madhya Pradesh to the north, Chhattisgarh to the east, Andhra Pradesh to the southeast, and Karnataka to the south. To the west, Maharashtra has a coastline along the Arabian Sea. The state covers an area of 3,07,713 square km and has a population of approximately 12.7 crores (2022 Census).

Maharashtra has a highly diversified economy with key sectors such as agriculture, manufacturing, services, and information technology (IT). Major agricultural products include sugarcane, cotton, soybeans, and pulses. The state is known for its industrial hub, especially in Mumbai, which is the financial capital of India. The presence of numerous textile mills, chemical industries, automotive manufacturing, and a thriving film industry contribute significantly to the state's economic growth. Maharashtra is also a major tourist destination with historical sites, hill stations, and coastal resorts.

Maharashtra signed the Letter of Undertaking (LoU) with the Ministry of MSME, Government of India on 15th September 2022. It submitted its Strategic Investment Plan (SIP) on 12th July 2023 and RPC approved projects worth Rs. 189.49 Cr for Assam.

The key projects approved are as follows:

  • Capacity Building- Anchor Vendor Development Program, imparting trainings to MSMEs on GeM, IPR, Sensitization and Capacity Building of DIC GMs : Development of anchor vendors to support MSME growth, Capacity Building of DoI/ Line Departments ,Strengthening of Maharashtra State Small Industries Development Corporation (MSSIDC) and other line departments in supporting MSMEs, Sensitization and Capacity Building for Women & SC/ST Entrepreneurs, Capacity Building to MSMEs Units to Digitally Submit Loan Applications, Capacity Building to MSMEs in availing Technical Support for Self-Assessment & Audit Process Optimization
  • Innovative Solutions: Flatted Factory Concept with Plug and Play Facility ,Market Linkages through Institutional Strengthening, Establishment of Business Facilitation Centers (BFCs), Setting up centres to guide MSMEs, empanelment of Mentors.
  • Skill Development Partner with Educational/Vocational Institutions for Skill Building of MSME Workforce and Skill Voucher System for MSME Workforce
  • Access to Market-Facilitating MSMEs on Innovative Logistics & Sustainable Packaging Solutions, International Buyer-Seller Meets/Trade Fair Participation for MSMEs:
  • DIC Strengthening: Upgrading and introducing new software to enhance operational capabilities.
  • IT Solutions: Develop a One-Stop Integrated Portal and Software Integration with Line Departments: Integrating IT systems between various government departments
  • Registration Camps for MSMEs and Nano Enterprises on UDYAM Portal:
